Putting the Special into ‘Special Dorset Cottages’, thatched Stoke Cottage has been part of the Chideock landscape for over three centuries. Beautifully renovated, this enchanting, cosy home is peacefully tucked away next to the village church, a short stroll from the village pub.
With three double bedrooms and two bathrooms, Stoke Cottage is ideal for a growing family or two families or friends getting away from it all together, easily accommodating up to 6 people. Cosy enough to feel cosseted but with plenty of space for everyone to spread out, whether in the pretty, country cottage bedrooms or the comfortable, spacious lounge. A fully equipped kitchen caters for your every need if you choose to eat at home. The family pooch will also be welcome, so come and make the most of the walks straight from the door, or simply enjoy eating al fresco in the peace of the delightful cottage garden.
Stoke Cottage has a spacious ground floor living area with comfortable sofas and a large dining table and chairs. There is a flat screen TV, DVD and CD player. Accessed from the living area are steep and twisting cottage stairs which take you to the first floor. In keeping with a character cottage, the dining area ceiling is low so may not be ideal for people 6′ or above.
The kitchen is modern and well equipped with electric cooker and hob, fridge-freezer, washing machine and dishwasher.
On the first floor are two double bedrooms, sleeping 4 in two double beds. One of the beds has one side against the wall so perfect for one but can sleep 2. A second set of stairs leads to the top floor to the most spacious and bright third bedroom with double bed and breath-taking views to the north of the village. A cot and high chair are available at the cottage.
Downstairs, and opposite the kitchen, is a modern shower room with toilet and basin. On the first floor is another bathroom with bath and hand held shower attachment, hand basin and WC.
There is allocated parking for two vehicles at Stoke Cottages which is approx 15 feet away (with neighbour’s parking space in the middle).
The private garden area for Stoke Cottage is accessed behind the parking area for the cottage and is separate to the property. It is situated just the other side of a neighbour’s driveway.
A well behaved pet is welcome at Stoke Cottage. The charge for pets is £21 per pet per stay.
Changeover days are flexible with Friday, Saturday or Monday starts, dependent on other bookings. The price includes heating, electricity, bed linen and towels and a welcome tea tray all ready for you on arrival. High chair and cot are available please ask. Free Wi-Fi access in cottage.
Why is it Special?
Stoke Cottage is over 300 years old and has retained all of it’s original quirky charm and character, indeed people actively search for these enchanting features in a holiday home of this age. However, with this comes a few points to note – the upper floors at the cottage are accessed via two steep staircases with limited handrails so this cottage would not be suitable for the infirm or elderly. The dining area also has low beams so tall people please be aware! The cottage is lovely and warm with central heating throughout and, although there is an antique woodburner in the living room, it is not in use (due to it being a thatched cottage).
For all our cottages, the price you see is the price you pay. We charge no additional booking fees.
